Bending Technics
The art of bending
Aluminium and acrylic plastic are often the starting point for product innovations and are being applied within our infrastructure with increasing frequency. The aesthetic appeal of aluminium is extremely varied thanks to the great scope it offers in terms of design and the many finishes that it makes possible, including anodising.
The bending of all grades, types and sizes of aluminium profile and acrylic plastic (PMMA), while retaining shape, physical properties and technical specifications, is one of the areas in which Van Campen Aluminium specialises in Lelystad. The company is involved in many sectors, including infrastructure and architecture.
The technical process behind bending
The bending process is in part computer-generated at Van Campen Aluminium. The company has 10 bending machines at its disposal used for a variety of different processes. There are very heavy bending machines with a high capacity > 400 mm extrusion profiles which allow the production of every conceivable shape, radius, oval or S-shape. Deforming processes that relate to aluminium sheeting, tubes, rolled and extruded profiles, consist principally of bending the work piece to the desired curvature over a particular length.
Bending acrylic plastic
Alongside the bending of aluminium sheeting and profiles, Van Campen Aluminium is also able to bend acrylic plastic in any radius to a length and width of 7000 x 3000 mm respectively. The scope for designs is unlimited and, as you can judge for yourself, some singularly impressive projects have already been delivered in this respect.
Explosive forming
In addition to the bending technique there is also the possibility of re-shaping plate materials by using explosives. This can be applied to materials ranging from 0.8 mm aluminium plates to 60 mm massive steel plates. This technique can be used for covering building fronts and products that are used in high-grade industry.
Follow-up processes
Van Campen’s own staff can carry out all follow-up processes, from semimanufactured to end product. Sawing, deburring, milling, tapping, constructing etc.
See CNC processes and Van Campen for more information. And always supported by our design department, equipped by you with ACAD2000 and Top Solid programmes.
